AATE's 2022 LOCI

"Cultivating Spaces for LOC in Educational and 'Professional' Theatre Settings"

AATE’s Leaders of Color Institute (LOCI) is a space for artists, teachers, arts professionals, administrators, and anyone who wants to learn from and interact with leaders in the field. This dedicated space only for people of color will provide professional development opportunities that include peer exchange, artistic vision, and leadership skill development. It is also an opportunity to share your work, successes, and challenges and make new connections with potential collaborators. The LOCI will help shape the next generation of the arts to better reflect the communities’ present.

AATE LOCI Mentorship Program

Deadline to Apply: November 26th, 2022

The goal of The American Alliance for Theatre & Education (AATE) Leaders of Color Mentorship program is to create a cohort of Mentors and Mentees that they will support each other as needed professionally as well as the Mentor/Mentee team will develop and present a workshop at AATE’s Conference.

The Mentorship program is a year-long cohort of mentees (emerging careers or career changers) and mentors (those who have been identified as having exceptional experience in the field). The mentor/mentee relationship focuses on five of the six core values for AATE: providing leadership, ensuring professionalism, promoting quality, creating community, and championing diversity.

The program will be managed virtually so all those interested are encouraged to apply.

Mentorship Program Goals

  • To provide 1-on-1 support to and from BIPOC Leaders
  • Increase commitment and sense of connection
  • Provide support and develop relationships and networks
  • Have Mentors/Mentees develop a workshop that they will present at AATE’s Summer Conference.

Interested Mentors and Mentees must complete THIS FORM after registering for the LOCI.
