The Coding Manual for Qualitative Researchers by Johnny Saldaña is unique in providing, in one volume, an in-depth guide to each of the multiple approaches available for coding qualitative data. Twenty-nine different approaches to coding are covered, ranging in complexity from fundamental to advanced levels, and including everything from interview transcripts to field notes. For each approach profiled, Johnny Saldaña discusses the method’s origins in the professional literature, a description of the method, recommendations for practical applications, and a clearly illustrated example. Also included is an introduction to how codes and coding initiate qualitative data analysis, their applications with qualitative data analysis software, the writing of supplemental analytic memos, and recommendations for how to best use the manual for particular studies. This book is an invaluable reference for all students, teachers, and practitioners of qualitative inquiry, and a useful textbook for beginning and advanced qualitative research methods courses in such disciplines as education, sociology, communication, anthropology, psychology, and health care. Dutch Theatre for Children by Manon van de Water contains three contemporary cutting-edge plays from a country notable for extending the boundaries of theatre for young audiences. In the first, "Hibernation" by Heleen Verburg, Jack (in a cozy hole), her parents, and her only friend, a stick insect named Brochitis, sleep the winter and summer away--but Jack wants to wake up. The second, "The House of Dreams," concept and direction by Moniek Merkz, text by Jan Veldman, contains n extraordinary cast of characters, rarely found in theatre for young people, who take their audience on a tour through a house that includes hallways, stairs, courtyards, a love room, and, ultimately, a theatre. The third, "On the Other Side" by Roel Adam, examines how the Old Bridge and the River, shattered by war, are both reality and metaphor to two children on opposite sides and cultures who try to make sense of their postwar world. The volume includes an overview of the theatre scene in the Netherlands, interviews with the authors, production photographs, and accounts of productions of the plays in their home theatres and in the United States. The book is available online through New Plays for Children.
